One of my passions
in the art world has been artistamps. It started as a girl reading
all those comics with ads for stamps on the back cover. I saved
my money gifts until I could order a package of imaginative, colorful
stamps from places I'd never heard of before. I was curious about
how someone could draw and paint such wonderful images onto tiny
pieces of paper.
Later, I married the
son of a prominent stamp collector who showed me his expensive
collection. Again I wondered about the artists. "Could I
make my own stamps?" I asked him one day, as I peered through
his heavy magnifying glass. "How do they make the stamps?"
He thought I was humoring
him because he was my father-in-law and most women took no interest
in stamps. At least the ones he knew, and he personally didn't
know any who were collectors.
I make sheets of stamps
because I love stamps. For those who share my passion,
I trade with other artists, as well as sell to collectors. I've
included a slide show for viewing a small sampling of my over
60 editions. I'll be posting my vintage versions in the future
and writing more at my blog Behind
the Scene as my Web presence evolves. My Gina
Lotta Post Artistamp Museum exhibits work I've acquired
from other artists.
Please feel free to
inquire about the stamps, ask questions or provide feedback. You'll
notice some of the stamps in these photos are not finished - the
finished work is perforated and stamped with my seal for authentication.
